Bristol Plymouth Practical Nurse Program - Introduction to Pharmacology Syllabus
Introduction to Pharmacology is divided in 3 sections. There is a test following each section.
The first section of Introduction to Pharmacology covers the general principles of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. Included also are drug history and development, common terminology, symbols and abbreviations, types of preparations, and safe medication administration guidelines. (5 Hours)
The second section of Introduction to Pharmacology covers actions, side effects and general nursing implications of medications in the classifications of anti-infectives, cardiovascular drugs, antihypertensives, diuretics, coagulants, anticoagulants, hematinics, antidiabetic agents and corticosteroids. (6 Hours)
The third section of Introduction to Pharmacology covers actions, side effects and general nursing implications of medications in the classifications of vaccines; antihistamines; decongestants; emetics; antiemetics; digestants; antacids; laxatives; cough suppressants; cough expectorants; bronchodilators; muscles relaxants; analgesics; psychotropics and preparations for the eye. (5 Hours)
